Retirement Intensive Therapy in Fort Collins, CO & PSYPACT States

Step into this season with intention and hope.

A dirt trail winding through a dense forest with tall evergreen trees and a rocky cliff in the background.

For many people, retirement brings a mix of emotions they didn’t expect.

Some find themselves on different pages as retirement approaches or begins—especially after decades of career life or raising a family. This transition often brings a shift in identity, purpose, and how each of you envisions this next stage. You may be adjusting to spending more time together and realizing your routines, expectations, or ways of relating don’t quite line up.

Others find themselves missing the structure that once shaped their days—the rhythm of work or parenting, the sense of purpose, or simply having somewhere to be. And with that can come the question: What does this next chapter look like—and how do I want to live it?

There may be questions about how to stay socially connected, how to meaningfully spend your time, or how to navigate changing relationships with adult children or aging parents while also trying to enjoy this different season. Perhaps there’s a deeper feeling that something is missing, but it’s hard to name what that is or how to change it.

This stage of life matters, and with the right kind of attention, it can be deeply fulfilling.

Retirement can bring up confusing feelings and deep questions:

Who even am I now that this part of my life is changing?

What do I actually want my relationships to look like at this point?

How do I take care of myself as I get older—and do it well?

How do I stay connected and not feel isolated in this stage of life?

What am I supposed to do with my time?

A Retirement Intensive is a focused block of time set aside to really look at this next stage of life—what it means for you, what you want from it, and how to shape it in a way that feels right.

For many years, I’ve worked with men and women across every stage of retirement—those preparing for it, adjusting to it, and those who find themselves in it thinking: This doesn’t feel how I expected. This is exactly why I offer Retirement Intensives.

Instead of spreading this work out over months, an intensive allows us to spend dedicated, intentional time creating a plan for your retirement. We’ll look at where you are now, what’s changing, and what matters most to you moving forward. You don’t need to have clear answers coming in—we’ll figure that out together.

These intensives are available for:

  • Individuals preparing for retirement

  • Couples preparing for retirement

  • Already retired individuals who want more out of this season

  • Couples who want to create a shared vision for retirement

During our time together, we’ll explore things like your identity, values, relationships, and how you want your days to actually look and feel. We’ll also talk through the practical and emotional pieces: how you want to spend your time, how you want to stay connected, and what supports your overall wellbeing. By the end, you’ll have a clearer sense of what you want this chapter to be and how to build it in a way that feels meaningful and enjoyable.

INTENSIVE FORMATS

In-Person Intensives (Fort Collins, Colorado)

If you choose to meet in person, you’re invited to come to Fort Collins—a place that naturally supports slowing down and stepping back. Many clients choose to make this part of a long weekend, giving themselves space to reflect and focus without the usual day-to-day demands. Sessions take place in a comfortable, welcoming office setting surrounded by trees.

Online Intensives (Colorado + PSYPACT States)

I recognize travel isn’t always practical or possible, so we can meet virtually if that works better for you. The intensive is just as focused and in-depth, allowing you to engage in this process from your own space while still having dedicated time to think, reflect, and plan.

Trade uncertainty and trepidation for direction and confidence.

  • Yes. Many couples use the intensive to get on the same page about what they want retirement to look like—both individually and together. It can be a really helpful way to talk through expectations, priorities, and how you want to spend your time as a couple.

  • Not at all. Many people come in after retiring and realizing it doesn’t feel the way they expected. This is a chance to step back, reassess, and create a version of this stage that feels more meaningful and aligned.

  • I’ve been working with adults across different stages of life for over 25 years, including many clients navigating midlife, empty nest, caregiving, and retirement. I’m also a Certified Retirement Coach which allows me to bring a more focused lens to this stage of life. I know how to help people make sense of what’s coming up and translate that into a plan that actually fits their lives.

  • Both. We’ll talk through the practical pieces—how you want your days to look—but we’ll also spend time on what’s going on underneath.

We’ll look at how you’re feeling about this transition, your sense of purpose, your relationships, and what supports your overall well-being. And then depending on what’s most important to you, we’ll address things like loneliness, daily rhythms, or feeling “off” in this stage—so you’re not just planning your life, but actually creating one that feels good to live.
